The Deputy Prime Minister, His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, today chaired the weekly Cabinet Meeting at Gudaibiya Palace.
The Cabinet affirmed the importance of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s address during His Majesty’s reception of distinguished medical professionals, in which His Majesty commended their efforts in advancing the Kingdom’s medical sector and contributing to the wider field of healthcare. In this regard, the Cabinet commended the achievements of Bahraini medical professionals and their contributions to serving the Kingdom.
The Cabinet emphasised the importance of creating opportunities for Bahraini youth to actively contribute to the Kingdom’s comprehensive development, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Marking World Youth Day, the Cabinet commended the efforts of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, chaired by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, in empowering young people and fostering innovation and excellence through diverse initiatives.
The Cabinet commended the Kingdom’s successful hosting of the 26th Arab Men’s Basketball Championship, held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC). The event was also attended by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.
The Cabinet welcomed the World Health Organization’s (WHO) accreditation of the Muharraq and Northern Governorates as “Healthy Governorates,” joining the Capital Governorate, the first in the Eastern Mediterranean region to receive this designation. The Cabinet commended the Minister of Interior, the Capital, Muharraq and Northern Governorates on this accomplishment, which reflects Bahrain’s international standing in healthcare and social development.
The Cabinet welcomed the signing of a peace agreement between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia, brokered by the United States under the leadership of Donald Trump, President of the United States of America. The Cabinet expressed its hope that the agreement would strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
The Cabinet then approved the following memorandums:
1. A memorandum submitted by the Government Executive Committee regarding a package of priority draft laws that fall within the framework of development needs benefiting Bahraini citizens.
2. A memorandum submitted by the Minister of Finance and National Economy and Chairman of the Future Generation Reserve Council, regarding the Reserve’s annual report and audited financial statements for the 2024 fiscal year.
3. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Fiscal Balance regarding Bahrain’s unified final account and results for the 2024 fiscal year.
4. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Fiscal Balance regarding the quarterly economic report for the first quarter of 2025, which showed a 2.7% annual growth in GDP at constant prices, supported by a 2.2% growth in non-oil activities.
5. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a draft law amending regulations on international trade of endangered animals and plants.
6. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the agreement to exempt holders of diplomatic passports from visa requirements for travel between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
7. A memorandum submitted by the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture regarding the expropriation of real estate for public benefit.
8. A memorandum submitted by the Minister of Legal Affairs regarding the Kingdom of Bahrain’s legislative plans for 2025.
9. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Community Services regarding the enhancement of the mechanism for announcing the top 10 establishments employing Bahrainis.
10. A memorandum submitted by the Minister of Tourism regarding the performance of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s tourism strategy and amendment of performance indicators for 2025-2026.
11. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the government’s response to a draft law and 14 proposals from the Council of Representatives, and a draft law from the Shura Council.
