HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister chairs the weekly Cabinet Meeting
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today chaired the weekly Cabinet Meeting at Gudaibiya Palace.
The Cabinet affirmed the importance of the official discussions held between His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the President of the Russian Federation, His Excellency Vladimir Putin, noting the positive outcomes of HM the King’s visit to Russia. In this regard, the Cabinet highlighted the role of the agreements and memoranda of understanding signed during the visit in furthering bilateral relations and multisectoral collaboration.
The Cabinet noted the importance of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, President of the Thirty-Third Arab League Summit's, visit to Russia, which was pivotal in reinforcing the outcomes of the Summit, particularly to host an international peace conference, as well as to address various issues, primarily the Palestinian issue. The Cabinet commended HM the King's statement, which highlighted the Kingdom of Bahrain's commitment, alongside Arab countries and Russia, to achieve the principles of good neighbourliness and to maintain regional relations on a diplomatic, trade and cultural level.
The Cabinet also reviewed the Ministry of Education's efforts to support the educational process, expressing gratitude to the Ministry and its personnel for their dedication to providing quality educational services. The Cabinet then extended its best wishes to students at all academic levels in finishing their second semester of the 2023-2024 academic year. In this regard, the Cabinet directed the provision of necessary support to help students achieve optimal results.
The Cabinet condemned the Israeli forces’ attack on a camp for displaced people in Rafah, Gaza Strip, which resulted in the death and injury of innocent civilians. The Cabinet reiterated the Kingdom of Bahrain’s call for the international community, especially the United Nations Security Council, to assume its responsibilities in enforcing international resolutions and humanitarian law. This includes demanding an immediate, permanent, and comprehensive ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, protecting innocent civilians, and ensuring a safe and continuous flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza residents. Additionally, the Cabinet emphasised the need to create a secure environment to revive a just and comprehensive peace process, allowing the Palestinian people to achieve their legitimate rights to establish an independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Cabinet then discussed several memorandums during the meeting, approving the following:
1. A memorandum submitted by the Civil Service Council on restructuring several ministries and government agencies to improve performance and efficiency.
2. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Fiscal Balance regarding financing programmes for several government projects.
3. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the government’s response to three proposals and a law submitted by the Council of Representatives.
4. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Interior and the Applied Science University to provide specialised programmes for the Ministry’s employees.
5. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Education and Royal Life Saving Bahrain to raise awareness of the importance of water safety.
The Cabinet then took note of the following ministerial reports:
1. Outcomes of the participation in the Doha Dialogue in the State of Qatar.
2. Outcomes of the participation in the Future Aviation Forum in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
3. Outcomes of the participation in the 50th meeting of the Regional Committee for the Middle East of the United Nations Tourism Organization, and the accompanying conference “Investing in Tourism: Opportunities and Challenges of Sustainable Finance” in the Sultanate of Oman.
4. The external participation of ministers and the visits of foreign delegations to the Kingdom of Bahrain in June 2024.
